Hello
I've been a working Artist in Floral Design since 1994. Having practiced many mediums, including music and voice, mixed media watercolor, and knitting and spinning, I've learned how to engage myself creatively better than even I was aware of until recent years. A 22 year knitter and spinner, I earned a Certificate of Mastery in spinning in 2016 and currently teach technique and yarn design. I'm happy to say I've enjoyed a long, satisfying relationship with artistic expression. My work can be viewed in Galleries in the greater Spokane, Washington area.

My Story
My artistic and intuitive gifts began very early in life. My mother reported I could sing along to the radio before I could speak. It was clear I had a talent and enhanced ability to communicate with animals, and had a sensitive nature that could easily perceive the truth in an oddly objective way.
This objectivity finds its way into my expression. My art has never been fashion over function. On the contrary, my artistic expression typically starts with solving a problem that finds an opportunity to turn into something amazing. I started my career as an event florist in 1994 and enjoyed many years in the floral industry until making the decision in 2024 to phase out of working in refrigeration. Brrrr!
I'm only involved with the world of avant-guard florals part time as I transition to other mediums. I'm currently showing mixed media watercolor done with inks I've developed myself out of rose petals at Chrysalis Gallery in Spokane, Washington. I have other exhibits planned at local galleries in the near future related to spinning and fiber arts.

Spinning

In 2004 I began knitting and spinning and became hopelessly enamored. I've been fixated on creating yarn ever since. This medium has seen many expressions from the highly textured yarns of mastering the functional craft, to non-functional art yarn, I have mastered technique, sampled fibers, and trained exacting dexterity. Extensive breed studies delving into the historical evolution of domesticated wool have shaped my deep understanding of fibers and how they connect us to our own humanity. Paired with even a rudimentary understanding of our own genetic ties to the earth, an understanding of how sheep and man has evolved together, and how to utilize those fibers to create garments forged from completely raw materials, I'm able to create functional bespoke garments designed with custom elements unique to the wearer.
October 3rd, 2025 I completed my opus. "Sweata' Weatha" is a naturally dark brown merino dress completely hand spun and knit by me. I spun approximately 6500 yards of 3 ply yarn with a diameter so consistent I chose to knit it on a Knitting Machine, an impossibility for most hand spun yarn. The process was followed on TikTok by over 2000 international intentional spinners who are also interested in learning functional technique; a skill that is almost lost to the sea of flashy colors and "art yarn".
As functional spinning looses traction to fads, synthetic dyes, extruded fibers, and commercialism, I feel my approach retains its value as an artistic medium, not just craft. I'm currently working on two natural color work spins incorporating gentle shifts in color achieved through spinning entirely. I'm also exploring natural dyes and have some exciting opportunities to share in early 2026! The foundation to my art is to spin functional yarn that enhances the garment, fit, and function of whatever is made with it, and that, my friends, is art in itself.

Mixed Media and Watercolor

Visual art has not always been natural for me. I've struggled with forcing myself into realism when everything in me is drawn to illustration. I finally accepted my pop influence in 2021 and began compounding my own inks from rose petals before branching off into watercolor and commercial inks.
I am currently accepting pet commissions and other commissions by discretion only. Please contact me for availability.
